McAlpine's WHB 1 1/4in Hand Basin Space Saver Bend has been designed to allow for full use of storage below the basin within the cabinet or furniture it has been installed in. To prevent foul odours and sewer gases entering your building, the internal membrane opens under water pressure to allow discharge to flow freely and then closes to form a seal. To eliminate the need for secondary ventilation to the discharge pipework, the valve allows air to be drawn into the discharge waste pipe when negative pressures occur which allows for greater flexibility in the plumping design.
The valve can be easily cleaned without the need to disassemble the discharge pipework and then reconstruct it. To clean, simply remove the split pin at the front of the valve, take out the plug and membrane and clean in hot soapy water. To reassemble, relocate the split pin in the slot provided. The WHB-1 is a self-cleaning waste valve that has no water seal, so it can never dry out through evaporation or lack of use as the membrane seal remains closed.
