Q:  What is the Tippers’ story?

A:  Tippers create a cozy and helpful online shopping environment for everyone. It makes purchasing goods and services both pleasant and effective. Q:  Who are the Tippers?

A:  Tippers are smart, independent, savvy, friendly and caring people - just like you! Whatever you search for, your real friends are there for you, sharing tips, helping with their recommendations on movies, restaurants, electronics, books, travel deals etc. Tippers create a community of people you know in person: colleagues, family, Facebook buddies (the real ones:-). You will be surprised to find among your friends an occasional shopper and a great online saver, a frugal mom and a consumer guru, a movie know-it-all, and an influential foodie. Q:  How can I become a Tipper?

A:  All you need to become a Tipper is to complete a free 30 seconds registration, sign in and get connected with your real friends. On Tippers you get smart shopping advices from your friends and friends of your friends, share your views and reviews, save your time and money, and have fun while shopping! Do you Facebook? Q:  What is the Tippers Add-On?

A:  The Tippers Add-On is a tiny and helpful browser extension that helps you get trusted information about a product you are interested in, be it your next laptop computer, or a new cookbook, or a long-awaited Cancun hotel reservation. Tippers Add-On is a cool tool to:

The Tippers Add-On lives in your browser quietly until you start shopping. When you browse the shop pages, it runs a widget that tells you if your friends know something about a product/service. If not, you can ask for their help.That simple. No spyware, no adware, no privacy violation. Back to Top

Q:  Which browsers are supported by Tippers Add-On?

A:  Currently, we support Internet Explorer 7, 8 or Firefox 3.5, 3.6. Please write us at feedback@tippers.com to get notified when the Tippers Add-On becomes available for other browsers and versions. Back to Top

Installation and Registration Questions

Q:  What is the easiest way to install and register?

A:  First, download the Tippers Add-On from the Tippers.com website. Run the downloaded application, then follow the onscreen instructions to finish the installation process. When it is done, you will be prompted to log in to your Facebook account. After the log in, you will be taken to the registration page. Choose your e-mail ID and a password and... that's all! Q:  What can I do if the Tippers installation fails?

A:  Please make sure your computer runs Windows XP, Vista or 7 and you have Internet Explorer version 7 or 8 or Firefox version 3.5 or 3.6.Please make sure your firewall and/or antivirus program will allow the installation. If you have already downloaded the Tippers Add-On but did not complete the installation, just rerun the downloaded file. If a reinstallation problem remains, you might need to adjust your firewall/antivirus settings to allow the installation (or release the file from quarantine, depending on your security software). You can also contact Tippers Help Desk at support@tippers.com and describe your problem. Please attach to your message any error messages you receive, and we will do our best to assist you. Q:  I try to install the Tippers Add-On, but get the error message "Fails to write to registry. Make sure that no security software is restricting the installer, then try again", or "Unable to elevate", or "This installer requires admin access", or "Failed to register DLL. Make sure that Internet Explorer is not open and that no security software is restricting the installer, then try again". What does it mean?

A:  In order to install the Tippers Add-On, you must have administrator rights for your computer. If the problem remains, please contact the person in charge of your computer (e.g. IT support manager) for assistance. You can also contact Tippers Help Desk at support@tippers.com and describe your problem. Please attach to your message any error messages you have received, and we will do our best to assist you. Q:  I completed my registration, but nothing happens.

A:  The Tippers Add-On widget will show up automatically when you need it the most - while browsing an online store. Please see the list of supported sites. Back to Top

Browsing and reviewing

Q:  How many shops and e-commerce sites do you support? When will the content of my favorite www.aSiteIlike.com be available for reviewing by Tippers?

A:  We are working hard to expand the list by adding more sites. Please email us (feedbcak@tippers.com) URLs of sites and stores that you especially would like Tippers to support. Back to Top

Q:  I am browsing an e-commerce site which is listed with Tippers’ supported sites, but I still cannot see the Tippers Add-On widget.

A:  Due to current technical limitations you might not be able to use Tippers in some areas of the supported sites. Or, these areas may not be discovered yet by your friends. Ask them to review some products in this area. Back to Top

Q:  How can I see my friends' reviews?

A:  Tippers will show your friends’ reviews while you browse a supported e-commerce site. The widget appears in the bottom right corner of your browser window when there is relevant information to show you. Back to Top

Q:  Why do I see reviews in some parts of a site and not in others?

A:  You see friends' reviews when there are reviews that are relevant to a product or a category of products you are interested in. If there are no such reviews in the system, the Tippers Add-On widget will not be shown. Back to Top

Q:  Why can't I see the Tippers Add-On widget while using a different computer than the one where I installed it?

A:  The Tippers Add-On needs to be installed on any computer on which you wish to use it. You only need to register once, so once you install the Tippers Add-On on a new computer, click "Already a member" on the registration screen and sign in with your existing username and password. Back to Top

Q:  I can see a recommendation made by a person I don't really know. Who are they and why are you showing me this?

A:  If this person isn't your friend, then they are a friend of one or more of your friends. We believe that friends of your friends are people whom you have a high level of trust with - this is why we show you their reviews. Back to Top

Q:  The Tippers Add-On widget showed up while I was browsing a non-commercial site. What’s going on?

A:  As you may have noticed, you can use the Tippers Add-On widget to ask your friends for reviews. Thus, when one of your friends is asking you for a review, you will see this request immediately, no matter what site you are browsing at that moment. Back to Top

Q:  The Tippers Add-On widget keeps displaying my friends’ requests for reviews even when I switch between browser tabs and windows. How can I stop it? Why are you doing this?

A:  This is because we want to make sure you see your friends’ requests. Once you respond to it or close it, the widget will disappear and will not be shown in other tabs and windows. Back to Top

Q:  How can I get more reviews?

A:  Just ask for it! While browsing supported sites, the Tippers widget may present the message “Friends know more”. Click on it, and you will see all current reviews, but also a button labeled “Want more reviews? Ask your friends”. Clicking this button will automatically ask friends who can advise on a product or a category of products of your interest. Back to Top

Q:  What happens when I ask my friends for reviews?

A:  Once your friends are online and connected to Tippers, they will immediately see your request with a list of products they may know about. They can write a review for you, and you will see it in your Tippers widget. Back to Top

Q:  What friends are asked when I click “Want more reviews? Ask your friends”?

A:  Our advanced algorithms pick for you only friends that are most likely to be able to assist you. Friends who have a small chance to help you will not be asked, so be sure your friends are not being bothered without a reason. Back to Top

Q:  When will I get an answer to a question I asked my friends?

A:  As soon as they write you. In case none of them can help, you will not receive an answer. Back to Top

Q:  I was asked to review a product and didn’t want to answer. Will my friend know I didn’t answer them?

A:  No. Though we encourage users to share reviews so that in due time they will also be helped, your privacy is our top concern. Your friends will not be notified that you did not answer. Moreover, they will not even know you personally were asked. Back to Top

Q:  Why review?

A:  Adding reviews helps your friends get more information on products or services you are interested in, and it is likely that you and your friends share interests. More than this, a mass of trustworthy and truly consumer-driven content will eventually create a cleaner and less dependent shopping environment for all. Back to Top

Q:  How do I add a review?

A:  When browsing one of supported sites, click on the “Add Review” button. You will be asked to rate the product and write what you think of it. You can also add your review while looking at your friends’ reviews. Back to Top

Q:  How can I edit or delete my review?

A:  Go to “My Reviews” tab at Tippers.com website. Choose your review and edit it in the right pane. To delete it completely click “Delete item” button in the right pane. Back to Top

Q:  How can I define who can see a review I made?

A:  While creating a review, click the bar labeled “Share with”. It will open a drop-down menu of options for you to decide who your review is to be shared with. By default, it is being shared with your friends and friends of your friends. If you wish to alter your sharing options after publishing your review, you can do it in “My Reviews” section at Tippers.com website. Back to Top

Q:  When and where can my friends see the reviews I added?

A:  Those of your friends who have installed the Tippers Add-On can see your reviews while browsing supported sites. If you replied with a review to a question from a friend, the friend will receive it immediately. Back to Top

Friends

Q:  How can I see, invite or remove friends?

A:  Go to “My Reviews” tab at Tippers.com website. All of your friends are there. Click the “Invite” button to add more Facebook friends to Tippers. Back to Top

Q:  How can I invite friends who don’t have a Facebook account?

A:  Currently, you can’t. In the future, we will enable you to invite friends by other means (e-mail address book or other social networks). Back to Top

Q:  I added/removed a friend in Facebook, but my friends list on Tippers didn’t update. What’s going on?

A:  Currently we do not keep your Facebook friends list synchronized with your Tippers friend list. This will be done in the near future. You can add/remove friends on Tippers manually by clicking the “My Friends” tab at Tippers.com website. Back to Top

Q:  During registration I only selected a few friends to invite. Why do I see all my Facebook friends on “My Friends” page?

A:  We imported all your Facebook friends and defined them to be your friends on Tippers. The friends you chose to invite were sent direct invitations to install the Tippers Add-On. We encourage you to invite all your friends to join Tippers, so you can see more trustworthy reviews and share yours with a bigger audience. Back to Top

Username and password

Q:  How do I change my password?

A:  Go to the Tippers.com website, open “My reviews” tab and click the “Change password” link at the bottom of the page. Back to Top

Q:  I forgot my password. What do I do?

A:  Click “Forgot your password?”link on login page at Tippers.com or in Tippers widget. This will send you an email with further guidance. Follow these instructions to change your password. Back to Top

Q:  I forgot my username. What do I do?

A:  Your username is the email address you selected during the last registration step. If you have not edited it, then it should just be the email of your Facebook account. If you can’t recall what email you provided during your registration, we suggest you try to login with all your known email addresses. If you can’t remember both your username and password, try to use “change your password” feature (see question above) and provide all your email addresses, then check all accounts. If it doesn’t work, please contact Tippers Help Desk at support@tippers.com and we will do our best to assist you. Back to Top

Q:  I am sharing a computer with other users who use the Tippers Add-On. How can I log in with my username?

A:  There are two ways to log out of someone else’s account. Click the “Not you?” link at the top of Tippers widget and log in with your username and password. You can also go to the Tippers.com website, open “My reviews” tab and click the “Log out” link at the bottom of the page. You will be redirected to a page where you can log in with your username and password. Back to Top

Privacy

Q:  Do you keep track of my web activity?

A:  We keep only the URLs of web pages you visited in supported websites. This will allow us to suggest to your friends your assistance when it is needed. We will not share this information with anyone without your explicit permission. Back to Top

Q:  Why am I prompted to log in to Tippers every time I come back home?

A:  To keep your privacy, we log you out every time when you log in to Tippers in another computer. Back to Top
